The kidneys act as filters in our body, cleaning the blood by removing waste and excess fluids to make urine. They also help regulate blood pressure and maintain the balance of electrolytes in the body. When the kidneys are no longer able to perform this function, dialysis is necessary.

Dialysis allows individuals with kidney failure or end-stage renal disease to live productive and useful lives, even though their kidneys no longer work adequately.
