AROUND 18% OF PAKISTAN’S POPULATION IS STARVING!
Hunger and Malnutrition are among the most pressing issues in Pakistan. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), approximately 37 million people in our country lack sufficient food to meet their basic nutritional needs.
Pakistan faces high rates of malnutrition, especially among children and women. A significant portion of the population struggles with food insecurity, contributing to elevated healthcare costs. Hunger and malnutrition not only hinders economic development by reducing productivity but also exacerbates social inequality. Inadequate access to food deepens the divide between the rich and the poor, potentially leading to social unrest.
Our religion places great emphasis on the importance of feeding the poor and needy. In Surah Al-Insan (76:8-9), Allah (SWT) says,
“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], “We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.”’
