Zakat is an obligatory charitable giving and one of the Five Pillars of Deen Islam. The amount of Zakat fixed by Islam is only 2.5% of our total savings and assets that has reached the minimum threshold, known as ‘nisaab.’ This little amount not only purifies our wealth but also helps poor, needy, orphans and the destitute.

In Surah At-Taubah (9:60), Allah (SWT) says,
“The alms are only for the poor and the needy, and those who collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to free the captives and debtors, and for the cause of Allah, and (for) the wayfarers; a duty imposed by Allah. Allah is knower, Wise.”
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) highlighted the value of charity, particularly Zakat by saying,
“Charity does not decrease wealth.”
